Kassellakis sends a message about the profile of SYRIZA: “I believe in the separation of Church and State”

“Progressive people have a personal right to their faith”

Stefanos Kassellakis attempted to quell the noise caused by his remarks in favor of religion and the Church with a video he posted on social media.

Just hours after the references he made in New York about his baptism by Saint Tsalkis and Father Cyrillus, during which “a cross was formed from the oil in the water,” Stefanos Kassellakis argues that…progressive people have a personal right to their faith.

Mr. Kassellakis attributes the attacks he receives to the right-wing parties, which, as he claims, want to “exploit” patriotism, religion and education.

However, with his message, he essentially addresses all those who believe that his statements “distort the profile of SYRIZA,” as he hastens to underline that as a person, he may deeply believe in religion, but as a citizen, he firmly believes in the separation of Church and State.
