Meni Malliori reelected to the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction

She was supported by all political groups and secured the position among candidates from other member states

As the representative of the European Parliament for the Management Board of the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction based in Lisbon, Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Meni Malliori, was re-elected for a third consecutive term.

Her re-election followed a secret ballot vote in the Committee on Civil Liberties of the European Parliament. Meni Malliori was supported by all political groups and secured the position among  candidates from other member states.

It is worth noting that alongside her academic career, Meni Malliori served as a Member of the European Parliament from 1999 to 2004. She also held the position of President of the Organisation Against Drugs (OKANA) twice, from 1997 to 1999 and from 2010 to 2013. Additionally, she worked as a consultant at the World Health Organisation in Geneva and was elected Vice President of the Administrative Board of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control in Stockholm. She has been a member of the Administrative Board of the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction for over two decades, and just a year ago, she was honoured with a distinguished award for her significant contribution.
