The Holy Metropolis of Sweden and All Scandinavia has begun hosting its “Sunday Dedications”, during which a set number of Sundays throughout the year are dedicated to specific institutions or persons for the purpose of teaching the flock and setting an example.

The second dedication was dedicated to doctors, nurses and all those who have dedicated themselves to the field of health services.

Metropolitan Cleopas’ speech:

My dear Doctors, Nurses, and Related Personnel in the Seminal Field of Health Services,

At the initiative of the undersigned, starting this year, the Holy Metropolis of Sweden and All Scandinavia has begun hosting its “Sunday Dedications,” during which a set number of Sundays throughout the year are dedicated to specific institutions or persons for the purpose of teaching the flock and setting an example, while at the same time expressing our gratitude for the contribution of those being recognized.

On October 17, 2021, this second dedication, which follows the one dedicated to newlyweds and the institution of the family, will be dedicated to all of you – Doctors, Nurses, and other professionals who have dedicated themselves to the noble field of health services who engage in the daily struggle to support our fellow men and women during their hour of pain and help them restore the blessed and invaluable gift of health.

Especially during this period, when the world has been upended by the Covid-19 pandemic, our anxious and frightened fellow citizens turn you and eagerly await to hear positive developments from studies aimed to combat it, while at the same time looking on gratefully at your exemplary and unconditional self-sacrifice in this concerted effort.

As a small token of recognition, on Sunday, October 17, 2021, following the Archieratical Divine Liturgy that will be celebrated at the St. George Cathedral in Stockholm (Birger Jarlsgatan 92, 11420 Stockholm) at 10 a.m., the undersigned will offer an address, together with a brief introduction by the prominent doctors Dr. Georgios Vavylis and Dr. Ioannis Rigopoulos.

The hymns of the days will be offered by the head chanters Drs. George Vavylis and Andreas Selamsis, along with the members of the Cathedral Byzantine choir.
