Mitsotakis’ proposal that the Greek Cup final should always take place in OAKA and always with fans

Let's do it like Wembley, said the Prime Minister - If necessary and if it does not violate the self-governance of football, I will legislate it

Newsroom May 22 11:50

A proposal to hold the Greek Cup final always at OAKA, and always with fans, was tabled by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Wednesday morning.

As he told OREN channel, “if I have a way to legislate without violating the self-governance of football, I will do it so that the Greek Cup final is held every year in OAKA, as it is at Wembley, and always with fans.”

“I hope that my proposal will be accepted by the EPO that the final will always be held this way without any controversy,” the prime minister added in the shadow of the decision that this year’s final between Panathinaikos and Aris next Saturday will be played without fans at the Panthessaliko in Volos.

As he noted, “major interventions are being made at OAKA and the stadium should not be underused, but instead we should know that at least once a year the great celebration of football will be held there.”

“I hope my proposal will be accepted and we will guarantee security,” Kyriakos Mitsotakis concluded on the issue.
