Moderate quake recorded off Crete

An earthquake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale was recorded at 9:26 a.m. (07.26 GMT) in a sea region south of the large island of Crete, according to the Geodynamic Institute in Athens.

The tremor was felt throughout central Crete. The epicenter was listed at 52 kilometers south of the city of Irakleio.

The Euro-Mediterranean Seismology Institute recorded the quake’s intensity at 4.2 on the Richter scale.
