New businesses in Greece mainly in the food industry

It’s all about coffee, cheese pies and liquor as far as new business ventures in Greece are concerned

Restaurants, coffee shops and bar make up over 10% of new businesses that opened in Greece in 2014, according to the General Commercial Registry. Over the coming year, there were 7,323 new businesses created.

40% of these covered 20 business sectors, none of which were related to industrial production or innovation.

Many of the businesses were in the wider tourism or retail sector. 122 of these had to do with technology (computer program systems (1.67%) whereas 102 were in the naval and shipping sector (1.39%)

445 (608%) were from the restaurant sector and 327 (4.47%) were in the liquor and alcohol sector.
