Nine ships, a frigate and a helicopter to rescue 140 illegal immigrants in Rhodes Greece

The boat carrying the illegal immigrants was not under anyone’s command from Saturday night and was spotted by Super Puma helicopter of Air Force

A big operation was set up in order to locate and rescue 140 illegal immigrants on Sunday in the sea area between Karpathos and Rhodes in Greece.

The boat that was carrying the illegal immigrants was not under anyone’s command from Saturday night and was spotted by Super Puma helicopter of Air Force.
Gradually in the operation that escalated on Sunday participated nine sail ships and a Navy’s frigate.

Eventually, the 140 illegal immigrants were initially collected in a cargo ship “MOON BRIGHT SW” with a Panama flag and then transferred to the Greek boat “EVANGELIANA” and finally landed safely on the beach Kalathos in Rhodes.

Amongst them are estimated to be the and four traffickers who brought them to Greece.

The Central Port of Rhodes is conducting the Preliminary investigation.
