No more bikinis in the Miss World beauty contest

According to the head of the organizing committee, the title holder must be more of an ambassador and not a beauty queen

For the first time since 1951 the candidate in the final phase of the competition will not “parade” with any kind of swimwear.

As announced by the agency director Miss World / Miss USA Chris Gouilmer, “the organization has decided to exclude any kind of swimsuit because is not the right way. It is not only a beauty contest, it is “beauty with purpose”.

In recent years, the organizing committee emphasized the part of the contest entitled “beauty with purpose” in which the candidate perform charity work and advertise remarkable campaigns.

“The Miss World should be a person who can help the society. She must be more of an ambassador and not a beauty queen” said the agency director.

However, the organizing committee has decided to replace the bikini with beachwear. “It will be more of a fashion competition show” added Gouilmer.

The last “traditional” Miss World was the South African Rolen Strauss, which on the 14th of  December she became the 64th title holder who wore bikinis.
