One dead in new 5.2 earthquake in Turkey

According to the Turkish authorities, the earthquake was recorded at 12:04 local time

An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale was reported in Malatya, Turkey.

The tremor was also felt in the Kahramanmaras region which was flattened by the deadly 7.8 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes that left behind more than 47,000 dead and hundreds of thousands displaced.

According to the Turkish authorities, the earthquake was recorded at 12:04 local time, while the focal depth is only 6.9 kilometres.

As a result of the new earthquake, several buildings that had been hit by the previous earthquakes collapsed. The Turkish authorities said one person was killed and four injured so far.
