One out of two households are below poverty line

14,5% earn up to 499 euros per month, while only 5.9% get more than 1,300 euros

A report published by the Institute for the Study of Labour of General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE) shows that almost one out of two households (48%) are below poverty line.

According to the report, 20.9% of households cannot meet their basic needs, while the percentage concerning the unemployed reach 43.4%.

As it is mentioned in the report, “signing and implementing the third Memorandum implies the continuation of the austerity policy. Therefore, the prospect of sustainable primary surpluses and exit from the crisis is negative”.

Concerning the salaries, the report says:

– one out of two employees earn below 800 euros (14,5% up to 499 euros, 22% 500-699 euros and 13.5% 700-800 euros)

– 18.6% earn 800-1,000 euros

– 15.7% earn more than 1,000 euros and only 5.9% get more than 1,300 euros
