One woman still missing after heavy rainfall in Attica

Yesterday’s severe weather caused many damages throughout Greece

A 40-year-old Greek man died after his car was swept away by floods in Menidi, Athens while one woman is still missing in Kamatero due to the intense rainfall that hit Attica and other areas of Greece on Thursday.

According to the police, the man and his 70-year-old mother were finally extracted by the car, but he died on his way to the local hospital, while his mother is being treated.

A search operation is still underway for a woman who was reported missing by her husband. Police found her car into a flooded ditch in the area of Kamatero but there was no sign of her.

Yesterday’s severe weather caused many damages throughout Greece and led to street and stores flooding, road landslides and power cuts, while an abandoned apartment building collapsed.
