EU–Mercosur trade deal approved after 25 years of negotiations

The European Union’s trade agreement with Mercosur passed with the required qualified majority, despite opposition from France, Poland, Austria, Ireland, and Hungary. EU capitals have until 6 p.m. to submit any formal objections. German industrial leaders describe the deal as a “major success.”
