Panousisgate: Supreme Court prosecutor orders two independent probes

Prejudicial investigations begin, following a chain of events that began with former minister G. Panousis interview with Proto Thema on Nov. 8

Supreme Court Prosecutor Efterpi Koutzamani ordered two independent probes regarding a complaint filed by Giannis Panousis concerning death threats against him when he served as citizens protection minister, as well as relations between Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) members and inmates serving time in prison for being involved with a terrorist organization.

The prejudicial probe is taking place following Panousis’ interview with Proto Thema on Sunday, November 8. Statements made by Panousis in this interview stirred controversy and spearheaded a chain reaction of events that led to the former minister filing an official complaint with the prosecutor.

The second probe has to do with action taken by Justice Minister Nikos Paraskevopoulos and Public Order Minister Nikos Toskas concerning the leaked media publications of private documents.
