Pavlopoulos to Tsipras: You will wear a tie next year

He appeared optimistic about the program evaluation saying that it would be completed in January

The President of Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos welcomed today the government’s ministers, the political leaders and army and clergy leadership at Presidential Mansion for New Year’s wishes.

Mr. Pavlopoulos talked with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and told him that the next year he would wear a tie because Greece would exit Memorandum. “But, you will wear the tie” President Pavlopoulos said remembering Mr. Tsipras’s promise that he would wear a tie, not when Greece would exit the memorandum but when the debt haircut would be achieved.

The prime minister responded to the challenge saying to Mr. Pavlopoulos ” I raised the bar high for the five-year term. You’ll be here to see.”

Mr. Pavlopoulos appeared optimistic about the program evaluation saying that it would be completed in January.

As for European officials’ statements about Greece’s exit from the Schengen area he responded “those who say such things do not know what the Schengen area is”.
