Tourists no longer need to photograph the evzones from a distance due to the bars that had been placed outside Parliament House at Syntagma Square a few years ago. In a symbolic gesture, the new government removed the gate, that once used as the government’s security shield from angry, anti-austerity protestors.  So feel free to walk around, feed the pigeons and take snapshots right beside the guards in traditional costume…
