Lefkada, as most Ionian island are lush with greenery. One of the main reasons is that it has an abundance of water stored underground. Lefkada has many waterfalls that cascade through the mountainous terrain ending up into the sea. The most renowned of these is the Dimossari waterfall, a major attraction for the many tourists that swarm the very popular town o Nydri, where it is in close proximity to. It ends up into a gorge which is replete with rocks.
