With ratification of the third Greek bailout plan and the associated memorandum now behind him after a divisive Parliament debate this month, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and family continued a mini Aegean cruise this week, heading for the remote Cyclades island of Sikinos after first visiting more well-known Milos.
Tsipras and his wife reportedly visited a traditional winery on the island and had ice cream in the main village.
According to the local website ractravelnews.gr the Tsipras clan arrived on Sikinos on Sunday aboard a high-end inflatable craft owned by deputy interior minister Pavlos Polakis. The family departed for parts unknown on Monday.
The site also posted a photograph of the craft, named “Ora” (hour), registry ΤΕ661.
Tsipras’ departure from a hot, mostly empty yet still politically charged Athens comes amid renewed and sharp criticism by far-left “internal opposition” within SYRIZA, with the Iskra website charging that a vote of confidence or snap elections will merely aid to stop the current government’s ongoing slide.
