President of the Hellenic Republic Karolos Papoulias on Wednesday sent a message of support to Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades, regarding Turkey’s provocative actions and the violation of the Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone (EEZ) by Barbaros, a Turkish survey vessel.

In his message to Cyprus president, Mr. Papoulias underlines the following: “At this time when the Cyprus Republic’s sovereign rights to its Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) are being violated by Turkey in an illegal and provocative manner, I wish to express the unanimous support of the Hellenic Republic and the Greek people.

I express the hope that the actions that your government is undertaking to deal with this situation will have a positive result and that the European Union will actively display its solidarity.”
