Owners of private vehicles who fail to pay their 2024 road tax by February 29 will face hefty fines. Payment of the taxes can be made through the myCar platform of AADE (Independent Authority for Public Revenue) using the following methods:
– Via the automatic transaction machines available at banks. In this case, taxpayers will be required to provide the QR Code, which is located in the top right corner of the notification.
– Through web banking if taxpayers have access to their bank’s online application. In this case, taxpayers will be asked for the RF code. This is the 23-digit number located in the center of the notification immediately after the letters “RF.”
– At the nearest bank or ELTA (Hellenic Post) branch, having previously printed the notification.
– Printing and payment via Taxisnet codes.
For those who still owe payment of the road tax, the government is imposing fines.
Deadline
Until today, in case a vehicle owner delays payment of the road tax, they pay twice the amount as a penalty.
You can download the 2024 road tax without Taxisnet codes by clicking HERE.
Printing and payment process
The notifications indicating the owed amounts for each vehicle owner are posted on the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) platform ‘MyCar.’
The process is as follows:
– Enter the platform and select “ENTER APPLICATION.”
– Enter the Taxisnet codes and click CONNECT.
– Click on “Vehicle Road Taxes.”
– Select “Vehicle Road Tax Notifications.”
– Confirm that the VAT number and year (2023) displayed are correct, then enter the vehicle registration number. Click on “Road Tax Notification” to save the file on your mobile or computer, where you can then print it.
There is also a second method without using TAXIS codes. In this case, you need your personal VAT number and the vehicle registration number.
Payment can be made:
– Via the automatic transaction machines available at banks. In this case, the QR Code will be requested, which is located in the top right corner of the notification.
– Through web banking if you have access to the available application from your bank. In this case, the RF code will be requested. It is the 23-digit number located in the center of the notification immediately after the letters “RF.”
– At the nearest bank or ELTA branch, having previously printed the notification.
With the end of the extension for the payment of this year’s road taxes, the extension for those who want to immobilize their vehicles and be exempt from the taxes of the same year also ends.
Vehicle owners who want to lift the immobilization and have electronically placed a temporary immobilization must visit the AADE’s myCar electronic platform and proceed with the procedures.
Initially, they must pay the reduced Road Taxes and then electronically submit the insurance policy so that they can be verified, and then the immobilization of the vehicle can be lifted.
If the license plates have been deposited at a Tax Office, then the vehicle owner must subsequently submit to the Tax Office, by appointment, the Certificate of Immobilization, the Identity Card or Passport of the applicant, the proof of payment of Road Taxes, and the valid Insurance Policy.
Upon submission of the required documents, vehicle owners will receive their license plates and vehicle registration permit as well as a declaration of immobilization lifting.
