Schaeuble says Greek optimism over solution unjustified

Statements shortly before the Riga summit

Athens’ optimism on negotiations is not justified, according to German FinMin Wolfgang Schaeuble.

As he stated, he does not exclude the possibility of bankruptcy (insolvency) for Greece, while information from the Institutions do not go hand in hand with the optimism expressed by the Greek government.

He underlined that the situation is in Greek hands, underlining that he excludes no scenarios. He also stressed that rumors of a political solution on the subject are invalid.

The German FinMin noted that Greece will probably be one of the talking points of the G7 conference next week.
