Unknown how the 12-year-old got the gun

Twelve-year-old is the perpetrator who this morning shot and wounded three classmates in the town of Wanda, Finland.

Finnish media, citing police, report that for now authorities will not comment further on how the bloody incident unfolded or how the 12-year-old got the gun. The police are also not giving further details, but it was reported that the injured were taken to hospital.

It will be recalled that the school has about 800 students.

Earlier, the police had asked passers-by not to approach the area and residents to stay indoors and not to open the door to strangers.

“A terrible scream was heard”

An eyewitness told Iltalente that he was working nearby. According to him, a shot was heard shortly after 09:00.

“I couldn’t make the connection with a gunshot. Then there was a terrible scream and some children ran into the yard. It took a minute or two for several police cars, an ambulance to get into the yard,” he said
