Schulz: Merkel and I agreed to do everything possible to keep Greece in euro

He spoke hours after talks ended abruptly in Brussels between Athens’ radical leftists and creditors

European Parliament President Martin Schulz told a national television audience in Germany on Sunday evening that he called Chancellor Angela Merkel earlier, with both agreeing to do whatever they can to keep Greece in the Eurozone.

He made the statements hours after an abrupt end to talks in Brussels between the Greek side and creditors’ representatives, during an appearance on a news affairs program hosted by Günther Jauch.

“On the one hand I say enough is enough, and on the other hand, I say to keep our composure and look for a solution,” he said.
