Job of the Day: SYRIZA govt seeks priest for the Greek Police

Wanted: Greek police lieutenant priest under 40 years of age who is ordained in the Greek Orthodox Church, has completed conscription service and speaks a foreign language

Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) Citizen Protection Minister John Panousis and Culture, Education and Religious Affairs Minister Aristidis Baltas signed a political decree to recruit a cleric to the Greek Police Force (ELAS). The position requires someone who is under the age of 40, a Theological School graduate, and ordained in the Greek Orthodox Church. The priest needs to speak a second language and have completed his conscription services.

The presidential decree will give the priest the rank of police lieutenant however he will be able to rise up to the rank of Brigadier.

The swearing-in ceremony when the SYRIZA government took power may have been a civil affair, however it still believes there’s a role for priests in areas that the previous governments never even thought of
