SETE: Greece to welcome 19 million tourists in 2014!

Significant increase of the scheduled flights to Greece from abroad compared to 2013 – The developments create a balance in the distribution networks , and hence in demand

The Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises has revised again its original goal of 18.5 million international arrivals, based on the new data for scheduled flights from abroad in 2014.
More specifically, SETE’s goal was revised upwards to 19 million international arrivals, following the processing of the data released by the National Flight Coordination Authority (EASP) on the scheduled flights for this year. The processing was conducted by ‘SETE intelligence’ research department.

It should be noted that the data showed a significant increase of the scheduled flights to Greek regional airports from abroad compared to 2013. Although the final number of flights to be implemented by the airlines and the seat reservations are bound to create variations of the original EASP data, the comparison with the data for scheduled and implemented flights from 2013 leads to positive conclusions, as was stated by SETE.

The data also showed that scheduled flights to Greece this season have increased in comparison to charter flights to the country. According to the Association, this is a very positive development as it creates a balance in the distribution networks, and hence in demand.
