The world of motorsports was struck by tragedy once again as the Moto 1000 GP race in Brazil was marred by the death of two riders.
42-year-old André Veríssimo Cardoso and 38-year-old Érico Verissimo da Rocha were killed during the first round of the GP 1000.
The former lost control of the bike during the corner and slid and found himself exposed in the middle of the track with the other vehicles coming towards him.
All the drivers managed to avoid him except Verissimo da Rocha, who smashed into him resulting in a scary collision. Both riders went airborne and suffered serious injuries.
The race was immediately stopped and both drivers were rushed to hospital. However, despite the efforts of the medical staff, after a short while they succumbed to their injuries.
