Syrian journalist Ali Hafez and his family made the 20-km journey from Bektas on the Turkish coast to the Greek island of Lesbos. He filmed the crossing as he made it safely onto Greek territory aboard an overcrowded inflatable dinghy.

He was one of the 2,000 people per day who make the perilous — due to it being … clandestine — journey.

No word if he will post his escape from war-torn Syria into neighboring Turkey and the road trip from southeast Turkey to the Aegean’s shores.
