Tourist arrivals up 20.8 % for Jan-Jun period

Αrrivals from Europe recorded an increase of 21,8%

According to the Frontier Statistical Survey conducted by the Bank of Greece, in the period January-June of 2015, arrivals of non-residents from abroad increased by 20,8%, compared with the corresponding period of the year 2014.

More specifically, arrivals from Europe, which accounts for the majority of arrivals of non-residents to Greece (86,1%), registered an increase of 21,8% in January-June 2015 compared with the corresponding period of 2014, while arrivals from EU Member States recorded an increase of 32,4%.

As regards European countries a significant increase, in absolute values, is observed in arrivals from Bulgaria (149,5%), Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) (37,8%), Germany (23,5%), United Kingdom (18,0%), Italy (64,6%), Romania (62,3%), Poland (41,4%) and France (12,5%), while a decrease, in absolute values, is recorded in arrivals from Russia (-60,6%).

Regarding nonEuropean countries, a significant increase, in absolute values, is recorded in arrivals from USA (41,6%) and Turkey (21,0%).
