Footy tributes to Paris victims: Wembley reverence… to boos in Turkey (vid)

Not all tributes were the same

Sporting events around the world a paying tribute to the 129 people killed in Friday’s attacks in Paris.

At an international friendly at Wembley on Tuesday, a crowd of more than 70,000 spectators sang La Marseillaise, the French National Anthem. Present were the Duke of Cambridge and Prime Minister David Cameron. The game ended 2-0 to England amid heightened security.
Flowers were laid at the side of the pitch by Prince William and there were reverence for the victims.

In Istanbul, another international friendly football match took place between Turkey and Greece. The match, attended by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu began with a moment of silence for the victims of the Paris Attacks. Unfortunately, Turkish fans shouted and whistled during the moment, whereas shameful boos were heards and reported chants of “Allahu Akbar”… The forgettable game ended a draw with neither side scoring (0-0)
