Tsakalotos: Young people will be worse off, but… at least we gained something

He confirmed that after the summer the lenders will put pressure on Greece to implement changes to labor law

Greek Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos hopes to gain the support of his French counterpart, Michel Sapen, during their meeting scheduled to take place at 10:15am Friday at his office in Athens, just a few hours after ECB head, Mario Draghi,  stated that ECB would include Greek bonds in the waiver only if it implemented the prior actions agreed.

Although, Mr. Tsakalotos continues claiming that the “program review has concluded”, it seems there is still a lot of work to be done, and the government is constantly being forced to compromise and bring new amendments to parliament for vote, changing in this way the prior actions passed in parliament in May.

Speaking at an event held by German Institute, Mr. Tsakalotos admitted that the government has compromised a lot, confirming that after the summer the lenders will put pressure on Greece to implement changes to labor law.

He argued that he fought against the institutions on issues like social security and tax laws and he had to compromise, but “at least we gained something”. He also admitted that the young people will be worse off in all domains.
