32-year-old Turkish captain Salih Çalışkan was sentenced to 28 years in prison after a Greek court found him guilty of smuggling illegal immigrants into Greece using his speed boat. He took 2,500 euros from every migrant for the journey from the Turkish town of Bodrum to Greece, says www.rodiaki.gr. He was captured on October 15, 2013, as he returned to Turkey after several of the people he had dropped off on the shores of Greece were arrested by the Greek coastal guards.
