"False alarm" No victims of Ebola in Greece

In the clear…

“In the clear” are the two people submitted earlier to the hospital in the possibility of being affected by Ebola.

The  laboratory tests of both are clear – but a concern remains as the two patients seem to have malaria.
The man who was submitted to the hospital on Thursday  is no longer in isolation, since as the protothema.gr, was informed,  the  laboratory tests incurred that the man is negative for the virus.

According to information obtained exclusively by protothema.gr, at least two people were admitted to Greek hospitals these last few days with suspected symptoms of Ebola virus, putting the Greek health authorities in a state of alert.

One of the suspected cases is a person who recently traveled to Greece from Nigeria.
This person asked to be examined by experts as he was exhibiting flu-like symptoms and he is hospitalized in the quarantine ward of Sotiria hospital.

Another case was recorded yesterday. It also involved a person who traveled from an African country to Greece and was transferred to Laiko General Hospital in order to be tested for the virus.

According to exclusive information of protothema.gr, the laboratory tests came back negative and he got discharged from the quarantine ward.
The experts of the Hellenic Centre for Disease Control and Prevention Experts (HCDCP) note that the admission to a quarantine ward and the testing is the standard procedure of identifying a possible Ebola case in Greece, according to the World Health Organization directions.

These directions state that all travelers from countries with epidemic outbreaks, such as Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Nigeria, or people who have traveled with people from these countries and exhibit flu-like symptoms should be examined by a doctor stating their travel history and symptoms.
