UEFA informed the Hellenic Football Federation that there is no positive case of any Greek football player

There is no case

End of the whole case in the most official way, but also absolute vindication of what was reported by protothema.gr about the “positive” sample that emerged with a Greek international football player who participated in the National Team’s mission in Tbilisi for the Euro 2024 playoff against Georgia.

UEFA, in communication with the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO), informed the latter’s executives that there is no positive sample in the tests conducted on the National Team players, and thus the matter is considered closed.

This development came shortly after the official announcement of the Hellenic Football Federation, which stated: “Regarding reports referring to a positive sample of a player from the Men’s National Team, it is announced that the Hellenic Football Federation has not received any relevant information.”

Indeed, before EPO took a position on the whole issue, the National Organization for Combating Doping (NOCD) had also been informed, as it had not received any information either.

“The National Organization for Combating Doping has not received any information about a positive sample of a Greek football player from the recent tests conducted at the National Team matches,” was the response given to protothema.gr by NOCD President Dr. Grigoris Leon.

Furthermore, given that the name of the football player who tested positive had already been mentioned in some media, Dr. Leon clarified that “both samples of the said football player were negative. Additionally, having contacts with the laboratories conducting the tests, we must report that the remaining samples tested negative as well.”
