Vartholomaios' visit to Germany ends in Dachau

He held a special service in honor of the victims who were killed there

Ecumenical Patriarch Vartholomaios spent the last day of his official visit to Germany in Dachau, the Nazi concentration camp where thousands of people lost their lives during World War II.
After taking a tour in Dachau, the concentration camp built by Nazis for political prisoners, responsible for at least 32,000 documented deaths, Vartholomaios held a special service in honor of the victims who were killed there.
The spiritual leader visited Germany to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Germany. During his nine-day visit, he met with German President Joachim Gauck and Chancellor Angela Merkel.
