Verdi’s “Rigoletto” revived in Syros, 150 years later

The island’s celebrations will be filled with music

Dreamy, magical musical moments will adorn the “jewel of the Cyclades” this year, Ermoupolis of Syros, from the 6th until the 19th of July, during the Annual International Aegean Festival, which celebrates ten years and is under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism.

At the same time, the 150th birthday of theater “Apollo” which opened on April 20th 1864 is also celebrated.

On this occasion, the theater will once more host, after one and a half centuries, Verdi’s “Rigoletto”,  under the direction of General and Artistic Director of the Festival, maestro Panayiotis Timboris.

The festival’s program includes musical meetings between great musical artists who will arrive in Syros from around the world, in their own way contributing to the perfect realization of this important musical institution.
