Wanted: Greek millionaire MP with undeclared assets

Who are the MPs being probed by Greek Parliament’s auditors? – Or, is it better to ask, who are they not?

Mystery surrounded the omissions of two MPs being investigated by Greek Parliament’s audit committee, untilState Minister for Government Coordination, Alekos Flambouraris, admitted his “mistake” in not declaring the ownership of shares in the company he founded. Now, the search is on for the other case of a member of parliament that failed to declare an income of a million euros over the past three years, but who submitted an additional declaration this year.

The identity of the second MP is still a mystery with other lawmakers keeping silent on the matter, though there is speculation that the member in question held a post at the Ministry of Finance.

Sources state that the MP rushed to declare his assets prior to the national elections held on September 20 by declaring the amount with an additional statement.

Apart from the above, more tax infringements have been pinpointed involving a current minister and a former minister.

On his part, SYRIZA deputy Alexis Mitropoulos, who had been accused of money laundering and tax evasion in the past, stated that he is not one of the MPs being probed.
