Switchfly, a global technology company that powers travel commerce, noted that 20% of the top 15 vacation spots for wealthy visitors were in Greece. The top destinations were ranked by Switchfly according to the length of luxury tourists’ stay. Athens was placed 4th after Seoul, Dubai and Milan.
Other popular Greek summer destinations, such as Crete and Mykonos, were also high on the rankings as far as first-class luxury travelers were concerned.
“Every year, economic, social and political events affect travel trends,” said Switchfly CEO Daniel Farrar, speaking to Bloomberg. “This year, we’ve seen a rise in travel to Greece as the country’s economic crisis had made travel more affordable.”
