‘Lindos is ours!’ say angry French tourists

Greeks have to pay, but why should the French?

A local newspaper reports that a group of French tourists visiting Rhodes tried to enter the archeological site of Lindos without paying for admission. They climbed up to the acropolis of Lindos and felt entitled to free access to the citadel.

“We are French citizens,” they said. “And we should not be required to pay to enter Greek archeological sites because our government is one of the European creditors that offered the latest bailout loan to Greece.”

The large group of tourists were very angry when they were denied access to the site. “We own you!” they said while escorted away from the area, although no information was given on whether the group had consumed alcohol, and to what extent, prior to the visit.

For what it’s worth, the news was carried by the local paper “Rodiaki”.
