Mr. Davutoglu made a request verbally to visit Thrace. With this move, the Turks attempt to entrap Athens, since a possible negative reply to Davutoglu’s request will be depicted as a sterile way to negotiate by the Greek side. In the case of a positive reply, the Turks will attempt to set up another “fiesta” in Thrace with muslim minority “extras” that Ankara continues calling “Turks”.

The Greek side, which was rather taken aback by Davutoglu’s request to visit Thrace replied that during the two-day program of the meeting of Cooperation between Greece and Turkey, there will be no visit to Thrace, as stated by a Foreign Ministry source to protothema.gr.

According to the Greek government , a possible visit will torpedo the attempt of establishing negotiations between the Greek and Turkish side. The meeting is, after all, called to discuss and deescalate the provocations and tensions caused by Turkish research vessel “Barbaros”, which entered the Cypriot Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
