European commission President Jean-Claude Juncker is currently at the European Parliament. He took the podium to speak about the goals of the EU following the Latvian rotating leadership of the EU.
He said that the European Parliament isn’t a “paper tiger”. He asked what it means to “respect” people’s votes and refered to the confusion raised as to the question itself. “Today, I will ask for clarifications from the prime minister. We need to put our egos on the backburner. I am against a Grexit. Simple answers are wrong answers. I am against simple answers,” he said.
Other EU officials were critical of former finance minister Yanis Varoufakis statements on Greece’s partners exerting “terrorism” on Greece over the weekend.
