In a shocking development, the European Enlargement Commissioner, Johannes Hahn stated that the European Commission recommends the opening of accession talks for Albania, while demanding the countries to pursue with its effort to strengthen the rule of law.

“To remain credible with the merit based process, the EU must stick now to its commitment and respond clearly and positively when countries fulfill theirs!”, Hahn posted on Twitter.

What is shocking though is that this report comes as the rule of law in Albania has almost disappeared with thousands of people taking the streets to protest against Edi Rama’s government, while the Albanian authorities keep putting enormous pressure on the Ethnic Greek Minority of the country in a clear violation of the international law for the protection of minorities.
