Greek Minister of Labour George Katrougalos made a shocking admission during a speech in the city of Kalamata, Peloponnese, likening the measures the Greek government had accepted to implement to a ‘concentrated and distilled form of neoliberalism adopted during the past in Pinochet’s Chile’!
His admission caused the outrage of the people attending his speech at the ‘Alexander Koumoudouras’ amphitheatre leading to tensions rising and scuffles breaking out between the public. Katrougalos predicted that things would take a turn to the better after the Eurogroup agreement and following a positive review of the Greek program by its creditors. The Minister claimed that Greece had for the first time succeeded in ensuring a clear road map for a debt relief and not just vague promise like in the past.
