Urban terrorists claim responsibility for Israeli embassy attack (photos)

The proclamation was found on a USB stick in a garbage can in Nea Smyrni, Athens

A proclamation claiming responsibility for an attack against the Israeli Embassy was found on Wednesday at dawn by the police following an anonymous call to the daily newspaper Efimerida ton Syntakton. The message was in a garbage can in the Nea Smyrni district of southern Athens. The proclamation states that the Group of Popular Rebels (Omada Laikon Agoniston) was responsible for the attack.

The newspaper informed police shortly after receiving the call at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, however the authorities couldn’t find anything. The Anti-Terrorism Squad began searching through the garbage until it found a USB stick with the proclamation. The storage device is now being closely examined by the criminal service.
