Results of Covid-19 tests to 6,000 tourists from UK to determine if Greek borders remain open

The British tourists arrived on Wednesday in Greece

Newsroom July 15 05:24

The result of the sweeping Covid-19 tests carried out on the approximately 6,000 British tourists who arrived in Greece today, Wednesday, will determine whether or not the Greek borders will remain open for tourists entering the country from the UK.

According to the plan, almost all tourists arriving in Greece will be tested and if the number (and percentage) of those who test positive is low, not exceeding 30-40 cases, then with strict and ongoing epidemiological surveillance tests Britain’s tourism market will remain open.

However, if the numbers of those infected are higher, the government is committed to closing the borders again, weighing that the cost of the risk of spreading the coronavirus is far more important than any benefits for the tourism industry.
