Newsroom November 18 03:51

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras met with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu and President of Turkey Tayyip Erdogan and the two Prime Ministers held a joint press conference following their meeting.

Ahmet Davutoglu announced that on the first week of February a meeting will be held among the ministerial councils of the two countries in Turkey.

Referring to the refugee issue, Mr. Davutoglu said that it is a global problem and neither Turkey nor Greece should deal with the refugee problem alone. “It is not a matter of Turkey and Greece only, and they should not deal with it alone,” he said.

Mr. Davutoglu said that Turkey’s accession to the European Union would offer a lot to the European family and would strengthen EU, while he acknowledged the Greek support in Turkey’s negotiations with the EU and expressed the view that the next time the Greek support to European Turkey’s progress would be reinforced.

Greek Prime Minister said that refugee issue cannot be solved with suppression methods stressing that the cause that creates the problem should be solved, while referring to EU’s negotiations with Turkey on the refugee issue he pointed out: “We should primarily focus on the ability of EU countries to share the burden with Turkey” asking for effective and reliable migration solution.

“We discussed the issue of border violations,” Mr. Tsipras said referring to illegal unauthorized flights of Turkish military aircrafts and “He promised to discuss this issue with more specific data,” Greek Prime Minister said.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu’s answer was quite provocative, but Mr. Tsipras did not respond. “None of us should make border violations and instead of blaming each other we should make the Aegean a solidarity sea” Ahmet Davutoglu said implying that Greek military aircrafts violate Turkish airspace!
