Piraeus-Kifissia electric railway (ISAP), Athens Metro and bus and trolley services will be disrupted on Thursday, as workers will join the general strike and hold work stoppages for Labour Day.
Piraeus-Kifissia electric railway (ISAP) and Athens Metro will stop running from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Hellenic Railways (OSE) will cancel scheduled runs on Wednesday night (April 30) and stop running all day Thursday. The urban railway will also be on strike, affecting inter-city runs and anyone going to the airport on the Athens Metro, which will only go as far as the Doukissis Plakentias station in its northeastern branch.
City buses and trolleys will hold work stoppages from the start of Thursday runs to 9:00 a.m., and then from 9:00 p.m. to the end of the day’s schedule.
Ships will remain docked at Greek ports due to the participation of the Panhellenic Seamen’s Federation in private sector union GSEE’s 24hour strike on Labour Day.
A 24-hour strike has been called on May 1 by the two largest unions in Greece, GSEE (private sector) and ADEDY (public sector).
