An aircraft carrying Polish tourists back to their country was forced to return to Hania airport, on the island of Crete, shortly after taking off when it was ascertained that birds had been sucked into its engine.
The pilots notified the control tower immediately and received the instructions anticipated by regulations.
The aircraft remained in the air for a while in order to consume the fuel and landed safely at the airport. All the necessary checks were carried out revealing that a part of the engine had to be changed.
