Mr Samaras accusing those who refuse the reforms that have been carried out everywhere in the world says that “they fiercely resist because they do not want Greece to move forward “.
After lashing out the opposition regarding all basic aspects of civil affairs he said: “Their only aim now is country’s instability and to divide Greek people. They were proved wrong in everything. All they have now to intercept the route of Greece is the instability. This is their big bet on elections. They are not interested in Europe, which they contempt … They are not interested in Greece’s exit from the crisis. They are interested only in sinking again Greece in political instability”.
Also, Prime Minister referred to inherent problems of the past which kept Greece back to “old-fashioned mentalities and distortions, which maintained a false growth on borrowed money,” adding that a “shell” had been obstructing the country to move forward”.
“This shell is now breaking. And the country and people’s great abilities are being released,” he stressed.
Even though the government team avoids saying it in public – it says that European elections are not national elections – what’s at stake for the government is to maintain their power. The results of the European elections will determine whether Mr. Samaras will remain the dominant force in political developments setting the terms and conditions for the upcoming national elections or he will be rejected leading to disputes and uncontrolled and unpredictable developments.
