French newspaper Liberation published today a two page feature article entitled “Greece is selling everything, the future of Greek people hangs in the balance “, dedicated to the Greek privatization program. According to the journalist Natalie Dubois, Greece is selling whatever it can in order to lighten the debt due to the innumerable demands of its creditors. According to Liberation, the focus is now on Thessaloniki, and more specifically on the privatization of the Thessaloniki Water Supply & Sewerage (EYATH) and of the city’s port, for which eight foreign investors (from Europe, Asia and the Emirates) have expressed interest. Specific reference is made to the decision of the Council of State for Athens Water Supply and Sewerage Company (EYDAP), and the impact it has on the case of EYATH privatization.
Liberation article quotes the president of the HRADF Konstantinos Maniatopoulos as saying that, “it will be difficult to continue the process for EYATH without taking into account the decision for EYDAP.”
The article also outlines the impressive list of state assets that the HRADF is looking to sell which includes 38 airports, the Public Power Corporation, thermal springs, 700 kilometers of motorway, 100 ports, hotels, a castle and 2000 square meters of land in Corfu, hundreds of acres of sea front property…
