No rotating power cuts have been planned for Friday afternoon, power grid operator officials told ANA-MPA, as long as demand remains at current levels.
Electricity demand has slightly fallen due to the winds that keep temperatures low. In case demand rises or production falls, the operator will proceed with power cuts in order to prevent the collapse of the system.
On the contrary, it is almost certain that rotating power cuts will take place later in the evening as demand on the system is expected to peak during the night, when air-conditioning units continue to be used and the large number of photovoltaic units installed in recent years are not generating power.
In the meantime, the Athens First Instance Court is expected to rule whether the strike of PPC employees’ union GENOP is illegal and abusive after PPC filed a lawsuit on Thursday. The case will be discussed today.
