The stock of Syrian chemical weapons delivered by the Bashar al-Assad regime was “neutralized” aboard American warship USS Cape Ray in the Mediterranean Sea, in line with what the Pentagon announced.
After contacting Cape Ray’s captain, the American Secretary of Defense spoke of “neutralization, on the sea, of the most dangerous of the stocks of Syrian chemical weapons” which were used to manufacture sarin gas and mustard gas.
U.S. President Barack Obama called the move an “important milestone” in international efforts to destroy chemical weapons of the Assad regime. Obama said that the destruction of the stock of the chemical arsenal was completed ahead of time.
The U.S. will continue to keep Syria under the microscope to ensure compliance, with the prime of Assad’s regime for the destruction of chemical weapons production facilities.
